Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important political figure stated the incident made him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
